April Ross

April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players who have earned medals more than once at an Olympics. Alix Klineman, competing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics is hoping to secure her third gold medal. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. The next time she has the chance to do so at the age of 39. However, she's convinced that top prizes are within reach. Ross said on NBC Boston that if they play their best, and even play well and they are able to play well, the team can win a gold medal. In addition, I'm planning put my faith in a touch of good luck. Ross was born in California, Costa Mesa in the year 1982. Her parents as well as her sister were residents there. In Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of different sports. She competed in basketball and track, in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements as a prep athlete. She was definitely a cut above the rest when it came to the second sport. During her high school career she played middle blocker, outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court as per her bio at the college. The award was presented to her as by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999, for her performance. The year 2000 was the time she received an Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play since the year 2017. The reality is that Ross was a major player in the beach volleyball scene before joining the duo. It's true that she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one of them was a renowned volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to 2013. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who took home the title of world champion with Kessy in 2009, also was an important player on the international stage. This duo went into winning a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team who was the winners of the 2012 Olympics in London, beat them out to win the gold medal. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she retired. The duo were able to win the bronze medal in beach volleyball in the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a college athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning her pro career. She played during high school, as well as before hitting the beach professionally. Her time in the Trojans' ranks was an impressive one. The year 2000 was her freshman year. was when she won the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman of the Award and also be named an All-American. Additionally, she was an integral player for helping the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. The Trojans were devastated through a tragedy in her life during her sophomore year. However, she managed to become an All-American once more. During her final two seasons in the Trojans' program, she led them to success by winning two successive national titles. In 2003-2004, Ross was named the top female volleyball player on the collegiate scene in the United States through The Honda Sports Award. Ross took a course in international relations at USC. Sadly, Ross mom Margie was not able to witness Ross's daughter reach the highest levels of beach volleyball fame. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001 when Ross was a USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. This meant that Ross remains near to her mother who passed away. Margie has always been a source of inspiration to her, both in and out of the water.
